LIVERPOOL and DISTRICT HOLIDAY 8th - 12th Sept

MONDAY: Departing from departure points around the Island, we make our way to Liverpool , making a stop in Coventry for lunch before arriving at our hotel, the Novotel for our stay of 4 nights.

TUESDAY: After breakfast we first we board our coach for a tour of Liverpool before make our way to the Walker Art Gallery where you will have an Audio Guide. The Walker Art Gallery is the national gallery of the North. Since 1877 it has housed Liverpool’s most outstanding art collection. Many of the gallery’s most important works have been on display in the city for nearly 200 years. Later we go on to the Beatles Story The award-winning ‘The Beatles Story’ is the world's largest permanent exhibition purely devoted to telling the story of The Beatles’ rise to fame. Located in the Fab Four’s hometown of Liverpool on the stunning Royal Albert Dock, The Beatles Story is Liverpool’s leading Beatles’ attraction taking visitors on a unique immersive journey through the lives, times, culture and music of the world’s greatest band. Find out more about Liverpool’s famous sons by joining The Beatles on their journey; first conquering Liverpool, and then the world, through recreations of key locations from the band’s career including The Casbah Club, The Cavern Club, and Abbey Road Studios. Depart Hotel At 10.00am

WEDNESDAY: After breakfast we head for the Museum of Liverpool as it builds on the success of the former Museum of Liverpool Life. This original award-winning museum was housed in the old Pilotage and Salvage Association buildings on Liverpool's waterfront, in between the Albert Dock and Pier Head. Its popular displays looked at the life, work and leisure activities of Liverpool people from all walks of life over the last 200 years. The Museum of Liverpool Life opened in 1993 and featured three main galleries. In July 2000 the display space more than doubled when three new galleries were added as part of the Into the Future project. We later rejoin our coach and head for Speke Hall ( Is a National Trust Property and entrance is not included ). Speke Hall is a wood-framed wattle-and-daub Tudor manor house in Speke, Liverpool, England. It is one of the finest surviving examples of its kind. ( Please note: Evening meal is not included at the hotel there will meal a meal allowance of £20.00pp ) Depart Hotel At 10.00AM

THURSDAY: After breakfast we set off for Chester, and a Cathedral tour( Admission Included).Chester has a bewitching beauty and unique atmosphere which make it one of Britain's most popular places . The ancient city is a breathtaking experience with each chapter of Chester's history etched into the very fabric of the city. Walk where Roman Legionnaires marched to war, Viking raiders wreaked havoc and Norman invaders conquered Anglo Saxons. Chester has the most complete city walls, the oldest racecourse and the largest Roman Amphitheatre in Britain, plus a 1000 year old Cathedral with Europe's finest example of medieval carvings - and of course the one and only 700 year old Rows galleries where shopping is a double delight. Later on we travel on to Port Sunlight is home to over 900 Grade II listed Arts and Crafts-style houses and public buildings, set in 130 acres of stunning parkland and gardens. Port Sunlight is open to everyone and offers inspiring days out all year round. Located less than half an hour between Liverpool and Chester by train or car, it’s easy to get to. From a fascinating museum and stunning parks to a world-class art gallery and a popular theatre, there’s plenty to see and do . . Depart Hotel At 10.00AM

FRIDAY Sadly after breakfast, it’s time to board our coach and set off for home. Making a stop at Royal Leamington Spa en- route. Depart Hotel At 09.30AM

SUPER 5 DAY BREAK TO EXPERIENCE THE ART AND ARCHITECTURE OF HOLLAND

2nd to 6th October

We travel from Ryde on the Hover and then by private coach to Gatwick

From Shiphol airport we transfer to the Best Western hotel in Woerden (cheese district).

The following days involve interesting and  varied visits and some free time. Nothing further than one and a half hours on coach!

We finally leave Woerden for Shiphol airport for our return flight and onward to the Isle of Wight.

IW Arts Society Holiday to Shropshire
