Latest Information: As at 23rd November 2020
A new charitable body has been set up, entirely separate from TAS but with initial HQ support. It has taken over the TAS HQ records and is called the Church Recording Society with its own web site. Volunteers will be able to carry out the traditional detailed recording and assessment. An alternative idea is for local groups to carry out a Church Inventory, which is simpler in scope with no extensive research or descriptive detail.
This work could be supported under TAS Heritage Volunteer Scheme set up in 2016, which covers all sorts of other projects, all such work having to be financially supported by the local branch of TAS.
Since 1988 IWDFAS has successfully recorded the following Island churches:
- St Boniface,Bonchurch
- St Mildred,Whippingham
- St Edmund,Wootton
- St James,Yarmouth
- All Saints,Newchurch
- St Mary the Virgin,Brighstone
- St Mary the Virgin, Carisbrooke
- Holy Trinity,Cowes
- St Olave, Gatcombe
- St Peter and Paul, Mottistone
- St Helens, Seaview
This activity is no longer supported by The Arts Society and has sadly been suspended at local level.
